RUMOR: Apple to ship less units to Canada than planned and diverting rest to Europe

As expected from the previews post, Rogers is most likely to get the short end of the stick. Rumor has it that due to the negative publicity from the ruinediphone.com petition site, Apple will now ship a smaller quantity of IPhones to Canada than expected. The remaining IPhones will be shipped to Europe instead. It is expected that Fido and Rogers stores will carry only 10-20 units for sale on opening day.

This rumor is almost confirmed after the GSM giant confirmed that it is laying off a number of new part time employees at its retail locations. The new hires were a result of the anticipated high number of IPhone sales in the first weeks. Rogers later released a statement on Monday July 7th that retail outlets are cutting back individually and that the decision was not made Canada wide.

As the rumors circulate the internets, the success of the IPhone in Canada seems doubtful at this time. More and more people are finding the online IPhone boycotting petition site and signing it. The numbers have risen to 44,256 as of this post.
Whatever the case may be, all rumors will be answered at the end of Friday when the IPhone is released World wide.
