Power Apps Copilot & Collaboration

Context

This work covered Power Apps Agent Builder, App Copilot, and real-time multiplayer collaboration for makers (people who build apps with low-code tools) creating enterprise applications with AI support.

Constraints

• Real-time collaboration had to stay robust and low-latency while multiple makers edited app experiences together.
• AI-assisted app authoring needed to feel reliable in day-to-day enterprise workflows, not only in demos.
• The product needed to support human-in-the-loop agent workflows, where people review and steer AI-generated outputs before they are accepted.

Key Decisions & Contributions

• I drove architecture patterns for collaboration and AI-assisted building around centralized error handling, optimistic updates (showing likely successful changes immediately), and smooth state transitions.
• I led Agent Builder as a dedicated product area from inception through launch, with continued iteration toward product-market fit.
• I supported App Copilot platform direction that enabled downstream use in Dynamics 365 Copilot for Sales.

Outcomes

• Power Apps Agent Builder grew into the largest source of Copilot agents created in Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• The App Copilot platform powered Dynamics 365 Copilot for Sales at over 500K monthly active users and became the fastest-growing feature in Power Apps.
• Cards for Power Apps shipped to public preview at the Microsoft Power Platform Conference.
• AI Builder shipped its first Bring Your Own Model integration, allowing enterprise customers to connect their own models.

Reflection

This phase reinforced that AI-assisted low-code experiences depend on operational fundamentals as much as generation quality. My continued focus is making collaboration and human-in-the-loop agent workflows feel both fast and dependable.
